EMBROIDERY THREAD

There are two types of the embroidery thread, one is made from trilobal polyester continuous filaments, the other is made from rayon (viscose) filaments.

Trilobal polyester is a multiple filament, twisted, high-sheen continuous fiber thread. It has the bright appearance of rayon or silk, but the advantages of a polyester fiber. Triangular shaped fibers reflect more light and give an attractive sparkle to textiles. The continuous trilobal filament construction of the polyester thread makes it strong and lustrous. Colorfast and durable, it is ideal to make charming machine embroidery designs on baby clothes, handmade quilts, uniforms, appliques and other items that are laundered often. Featuring a vast color range, you can also use this UV-resistant embroidery thread to make colorful outdoor apparel. It is suitable for digitized machine

Rayon (Viscose) is created by pressing cellulose acetate (usually made from wood pulp) through small holes and solidifying it in the form of filaments. The advantages of rayon threads are: its high-sheen colors, its soft touch, and it's an inexpensive thread. The disadvantages of rayon threads are: it's often not colorfast (the dye can bleed onto fabric when exposed to strong detergent, UV light, or bleach), it's not as strong as trilobal polyester, and the fiber itself is not as durable as polyester.
